ABOUT FTLOC:
For The Love of Comics is an art studio directed and operated by Gio Benedetti dedicated to making cool things, teaching the art of making cool things, and bringing together a community of artists who are all, collectively, dedicated to supporting and making cool things. Also, we love comics.
FTLOC was founded in 2021, and after several years of offering camps and classes at local parks, they found a home in 2024 at Barn 5400. Now a fully armed and operational art battle station, the studio is home to our DIY publishing, Gio’s book writing and comic making and, of course, our classes, workshops and camps.
Classes and camps are currently available to students in 4th-8th grade.
Studio drop-in hours are available for students in 9th-12th grade.

ABOUT GIO:
Gio Benedetti is a long-time mentor, teacher and creator in Sonoma County. He has also always loved comics. Tintin, Calvin & Hobbes, and then every other piece of sequential art he could get his hands on. After an early life and career playing music and touring the world, he quit the rambling life and found ways to make art but also spend time with his family. When Covid hit, the natural thing for Gio was, obviously, to host a daily live-stream called Draw A Dragon where he (and his groovy drawing buddies) would draw a dragon every morning. This was the gateway into teaching art, and making art, community, comics (and sometimes dragons) his profession.
He can now be found working with the Luther Burbank Center for the Arts teaching comic art residencies across Sonoma County, teaching in his studio with For The Love of Comics, and making art, comics, posters, animations and musics hither and yon.
